If you enjoy participating in sports, you will probably spend most of your time perfecting your skill at that particular sport and very little time on your key fitness. A sports fitness programme on the other hand improves overall fitness, which can dramatically improve performance.
Your fitness is often interpreted as how fast you can run, or how long you can keep going. Whilst that is understandable, do you realise how much your sports performance can increase when the fundamental building blocks of fitness are in place and activated?
Fitness is a relative state, depending on the environment in which you operate. Weight lifters, for example, need to be strong – the stronger their core the more weight they can lift and the less likely they are to have back problems. Runners need to be lean and quick, but may not be so strong. With cyclists the emphasis is more on lower body fitness unlike boxing where the emphasis is on upper body fitness.
Unless you have hours and hours to spend in the gym every day to keep all the various aspects of your fitness up to scratch, it is unlikely you will have all-round fitness. But you don’t necessarily need to be all round fit.
Sports specific fitness programmes
Diane is qualified in Sports Conditioning and her sports specific programmes are geared to the areas upon which you need to concentrate in order to be able to increase your performance at that sport.
Superb on the Slopes
Ski programmes are probably the most popular of the sports programmes Diane offers. As a keen skier herself, she is only too happy to share her knowledge with you and give you the techniques you need. Whether you are a first-time skier or have skied all your life, preparation is the key to the perfect skiing holiday.
Diane’s special ski preparation improves your ability to respond at lightning speed when on the ski slopes. The training incorporates stamina, balance and flexibility. Improved balance and flexibility means you can ski all day without getting tired – even in powder. It also helps to control your weight on the snowboard, as well as master the slalom or stem Christie turns.
First time skiers can sometimes feel daunted, especially if friends and family are expert skiers. If you are trying skiing for the first time you will enjoy your training with Diane. The workout sessions are great fun, and the preparation builds your fitness as well as your confidence when you join ski school.
Diane’s pre-skiing fitness training can be experienced one to one, and she also works with parties of up to 12. These sessions are enjoyable and the perfect start to your ski holiday.
Fitness for Tennis
Diane is also a regular tennis player and can personally vouch for the difference that general fitness can make to success on the court. One of the comments most often made about Andy Murray at Wimbledon this year was about how his general fitness had improved.
Tennis packages taken up just after Christmas can do wonders for your tennis once the weather improves and you get out on the court.
Cycling
Cycling was the British success story of the recent Olympics, and is becoming more popular with the public generally. Even if you are considering a cycling holiday with the family it could be a good idea to improve your fitness for the sport. Fitness for cycling will help you avoid the aching back and legs that can ruin the best of holidays.
Diane is a keen cyclist . For her special birthday anniversary she chose to cycle from London to Paris to raise money for the Thames Valley Hospice. Diane trains a keen cyclist who spends most of his leisure time cycling the varied and beautiful terrain of North Devon.
Hockey Golf and Rugby Programmes
Hockey Golf and Rugby are sports where fitness training can be of great benefit. Diane has played hockey in recent years, having previously played many years ago whilst she was at school! Undoubtedly improved fitness has a beneficial impact on performance in these team sports.
Sports specific packages can be based on an off season as well as on season routine. All programmes are documented and examples of the postures required for exercises are given so that you can work on your own when Diane is not with you.
